Position Summary
We are seeking Professional Visitation Monitors to supervise visits and exchanges across our service regions. This is an independent contractor role with flexible scheduling. Monitors may provide availability and preferred service areas based on agency needs, court orders, client schedules, and approved visit locations.
Most visits occur:
Weekdays: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Weekends: Flexible hours
Common visit locations may include parks, libraries, malls, community centers, approved public locations, and homes when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Visitations: Support child safety and compliance with applicable court orders and agency policies during visits.
- Remain Neutral: Maintain professional boundaries and avoid taking sides, giving legal advice, or becoming involved in parental disputes.
- Document Observations: Prepare timely, factual observation notes or reports based on provider observations and agency procedures.
- Report Concerns: Report suspected abuse, neglect, safety concerns, or order violations when required by law, court order, or agency policy.
- Coordinate Exchanges: Support safe and structured child transfers between parties when assigned.
- Case Reviews: Participate in case review meetings with the Program Director or agency leadership when requested.
- Collaborate Professionally: Communicate appropriately with agency staff, parties, attorneys, and other professionals when authorized.
- Court Testimony: Testify when necessary based on factual observations and agency records.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be 21 years or older by the start date.
- Ability to pass applicable background checks and register with TrustLine when required.
- Completion of 24-hour professional supervised visitation monitor training and mandated reporter training.
- Proof of auto insurance if transportation or travel is required.
- No DUI within the past 5 years; no probation or parole within the past 10 years.
- No convictions for child abuse, child molestation, or similar offenses.
- No active or qualifying restraining orders within the last 10 years.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the participant’s language or work with an impartial interpreter when appropriate.
Preferred:
- Experience in social work, family services, law enforcement, child welfare, education, counseling, or related fields.
- Knowledge of child development, domestic violence dynamics, substance abuse concerns, and trauma-informed care.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance when travel is required.
- Ability to prepare written documentation using basic computer tools.
- Ability to communicate professionally in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to travel within assigned service areas and follow agency travel protocols.
- Comfort working in varied visit environments, including approved public locations and private homes when appropriate.
